Our Story

Welcome to Tastings Tea! We are a small, independent tea company dedicated to bringing you the highest quality, small batch premium teas.

Our team of tea experts has scoured the globe in search of the best teas, with a focus on classic flavors such as Earl Grey and seasonal favorites like our Cinnamon Ginger. We are passionate about the art of tea and are always looking for new and exciting flavors to share with our customers.

At Tastings Tea, we believe in the power of tea to bring people together and create meaningful connections. That's why we offer a range of teas for every occasion, from intimate gatherings with friends to large-scale events.

One thing that sets us apart from other tea companies is our commitment to using whole leaf premium tea. Made from unbroken leaves, whole leaf tea boasts a higher concentration of beneficial compounds such as antioxidants, amino acids, and flavonoids. These compounds work together to provide a host of health benefits, including improved cardiovascular function, better digestion, and even weight loss.

But the benefits of whole leaf tea don't stop there. The larger surface area of whole leaves allows for a fuller infusion of flavors, resulting in a richer and more complex taste. And because the leaves are left intact, whole leaf tea can be steeped multiple times, providing a longer lasting and more economical tea experience.

So why settle for low quality, broken tea leaves when you can have the best of both worlds – superior taste and unparalleled health benefits – with whole leaf tea from Tastings Tea?

Thank you for choosing Tastings Tea. We can't wait to share our love of tea with you."

How to Taste Tea

Tea tasting is more than just sipping—it’s about noticing the subtleties that make each variety unique. Here’s a streamlined approach to guide you:

1. Select the Tasting Cup

A cup that holds about 150 ml works best, giving you enough room to swirl and evaluate the liquor.

2. Weigh the Leaves

Measure roughly 2 grams of tea. Keeping this consistent helps with fair comparisons.

3. Inspect the Dry Leaves

Before brewing, take in the aroma and look of the leaves. Their shape, color, and scent can reveal a lot about the tea’s character.

4. Brew with Care

Steeping time and water temperature greatly influence flavor. For training purposes, use these benchmarks:

  • White tea: 3.5 min at 90°C
  • Green tea: 3.5 min at 85°C
  • Oolong tea: 4 min at 95°C
  • Black tea: 3 min at 100°C
  • Puerh tea: 2–3 min at 100°C

(These are general tasting guidelines. For casual drinking, you may prefer the producer’s instructions.)

5. Examine the Infused Leaf

Once brewed, note the color, aroma, and texture of the wet leaves. Some tasters even nibble a piece to detect hidden flavors.

6. Smell the Brew

Bring the cup close and inhale deeply. The aroma often hints at what the palate will discover. A tasting wheel can help you describe scents more precisely.

7. Taste the Liquor

Sip by slurping, spreading the liquid across your tongue. Let the flavors roll through your mouth before swallowing.

8. Identify Flavor Layers

Notice how the taste develops: the first impression, the mid-palate notes, and the lingering finish. This layering creates the tea’s overall profile.

  1. Tip: Always taste the tea plain—without milk or sugar—so you can detect its true qualities. Over time, your palate will sharpen, and you’ll recognize nuances more easily.
